Linden Boys CC Team Wins State Championship

The Linden boys' cross country team has won the MHSAA state championship in Division II, capping a spectacular season with a 56-point margin over second place Vicksburg. Coach Clinton Lawthorne's Eagles tallied 59 points behind four All-State performances, led by Jake Hord's third place finish in the 3.1 mile race. Brad Ferrara finished fifth, Brendan Sage 12th, and Kyle LeMieux 25th to earn All-State honors. Dylan Ryan, Mark Wright and Garrett Chappell rounded out Linden's varsity team in the race held at Michigan International Speedway. Fenton finished in ninth place in the state meet, and Lapeer East was 25th in its first year of qualifying a team to the state's penultimate event.

Linden's state championship is the 20th in Flint Metro League history and the third in boys' cross country for the FML. Duane Raffin's Holly Bronchos took state titles in 1977 and 1978. Holly's girls won a state championship in 1990. A list of all FML state champions can be found on this website's History page.

Congratulations Linden on your school's first state championship!
