Fenton Girls and Lapeer East Boys Take FML Hoops Crowns

In a winter season that broke tradition, it was the Flint Metro basketball teams with the most tradition that claimed championships. With girls and boys teams sharing winter gyms for the first time since 1972-73, the FML played 144 total varsity games, plus an equal number of JV and freshman contests, over the past ten weeks. Fenton's girls and Lapeer East's boys emerged as the 2008 league champions.

For Fenton, this marks their eleventh FML girls' basketball championship, the most by any school in league history. Lapeer East is second with ten titles and Oxford has claimed nine girls' championships (including co-championships).

Lapeer East clinched its fourteenth boys' basketball league crown, also the most for any league school. Fenton has won or tied ten boys' basketball championships in the FML.

Under 'Championships' in the drop-down menu at the top of this page, you can find not only the final standings for this latest basketball season, but year-by-year standings since 1969 under 'History'.
